Lake District sightseeing tour

A private 5 hour guided tour just £250*

After departing from Windermere Railway Station, our 4 hour guided sightseeing tour will visit the following popular and best loved places in the Lake District:

Grasmere

Wordsworth called Grasmere "The loveliest spot that man hath found" and he lived here at Dove Cottage from 1799 to 1808. This is a beautiful location with peaceful lakeside walks and a historic 13th century church. Grasmere has some interesting shops as well, including the famous Gingerbread shop and Barney's News Box with over 20,000 jigsaws for sale upstairs.

Keswick

Situated between towering Skiddaw and the gentle beauty of Derwentwater, this English market town offers a wide range of attractions for visitor, from shops and restaurants to museums and boat trips around the lake.

Ashness Bridge

Ashness Bridge is a stone built bridge which has lovely views across Borrowdale to Skiddaw. The bridge itself is a popular subject for photographers and was probably a packhorse bridge originally.

Surprise View

Surprise View is a popular tourist spot at the top of a cliff, from where you can view the full extent of Derwentwater and even beyond to Bassenthwaite Lake.

Buttermere

Travelling across Honister Pass we head for Buttermere in the Western Lake District. Together with nearby Crummock Water, they were formerly one post-glacial lake. Buttermere means "the lake by the dairy pastures" and it is a very picturesque spot, the valley being surround by a range of world famous mountains.

"A well-informed tour complete with breathtaking views of the Lake District

I had such a wonderful time touring the Lake District with David. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and very friendly. He would pull over whenever I wanted to take photos of the breathtaking scenery and I never felt rushed. I highly recommend this tour. You'll see a lot of jaw-dropping landscapes."
