Lake District evening tours

A private 2 hour guided sightseeing tour just £100*

After departing from Windermere Railway Station, our 2 hour guided evening tour will visit the following places and tourist attractions in the central Lake District:

Ambleside

From Windermere we will make a brief stop at Waterhead, at the head of Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England, and at Bridge House, one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District.

Rydal Water

Rydal Water is one of the smallest lakes, and popular for its connections to William Wordsworth. On the western side of the lake 'Wordsworth's seat' is said to be his favourite viewpoint.

Grasmere

Wordsworth called Grasmere "The loveliest spot that man hath found" and he lived here at Dove Cottage from 1799 to 1808. This is a beautiful location with peaceful lakeside walks and a historic 13th century church. Grasmere has some interesting shops as well, including the famous Gingerbread shop and Barney's News Box with over 20,000 jigsaws for sale upstairs.

Chapel Stile

Situated in the Langdale Valley Chapel Stile is a quaint Lakeland village with a school, church, shop and the Wainwright's Inn. There is also a nearby quarry.

Elterwater

The village of Elterwater is at the foot of the Great and Little Langdale valleys. It offers some magnificent views of the rugged Langdale Pikes.

Skelwith Bridge

Skelwith Bridge is a small village near Ambleside, named after its impressive bridge which spans the River Brathay.

"Very lucky to have booked the last evening tour of 2020! My husband and I booked the tour on our way up to the Lake District on Sunday, it was our first time visiting and the evening tour (31st August) made our trip so memorable.

David picked up from our hotel, his knowledge of the area is phenomenal and was happy to answer all our questions. He's so passionate about the lakes and took us to see so many hidden gems, which otherwise we would have missed.

Because of David, we will definitely be visiting the Lake District again! Thank you David. Highly recommend this tour!!!"
